EMU DSC Community was founded by Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) School of Computing and Technology (SCT) students Emre Özyavuz and Yahya Helvacıoğlu. EMU DSC Community, a university-based community group for students who are interested in Google developer technologies, started broadcasting on Thursday, January 14, 2021, at 19:30 with a new activity concept from their social media accounts. In the statement made by the EMU DSC Community on the subject, “We are here with a new event concept! "We are with you with our new series, where we will host many experts from different fields of the sector and have the opportunity to listen to their experiences and advice." EMU 2013 graduate Quality Management Engineer Volkan Özdamar met with students on the Developer Student Clubs Cyprus YouTube channel at the event which is mentioned.

The Only Community in TRNC is at EMU

DSC EMU Community received positive results from the interviews made as a result of the applications, and thus, for the first time in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), the Google-supported DSC Community, which belongs to the Google community that is only in EMU in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, was actively opened. In the statement made by the EMU DSC Community, it was stated that not only university students but also high school students wanted to take part. In the statement, “73 students from various departments applied through the Google Form that we created for the club. The number of students who came to the platform we used without applying was 204. It was stated that among our plans, we have agreed with valuable people who are different and famous in the sector and we will organize trainings, webinars or workshops with them in the coming weeks.

In the statement, it is said that “What we want in this part is to spread in Northern Cyprus and not only to consist of IT students, but also to meet with students from other faculties and departments and to organize wider activities with students from different ideas or branches. They stated that they wanted to draw attention to the city of Famagusta, where the firsts were made, and to be a pioneer by encouraging the students of the other 7 universities in Northern Cyprus.”

"We Want to Organize a Winter Camp"

EMU DSC Community continued their statement as follows: “We want to organize a winter camp in the field of software languages or cyber security. As software languages, we can evaluate if our school's valuable teachers want to work voluntarily within the scope of this project. Our goal is to progress from scratch to an audience that does not know. In order to get the approved certificate of achievement, we will determine a project for the needs of Northern Cyprus with our trainers expected from the participants, and a jury will be formed with our professors, who have previously determined the projects of the participants, and the most liked project will be awarded. In this way, we will have seen more than one project for the needs of the TRNC and the opinions of people from different sectors than schools."
