The programs of study offered by the School of
Computing and Technology at Eastern Mediterranean University
are designed to prepare motivated students with technical aptitude
in the skills and experfise required for professional careers
in the technologically-oriented fields of business and industry.
Rapid developments in computer technology have
produced a global technological culture, and the necessity for
storage, processing, and transmission of information has made
it necessary for industries and businesses to invest in automation
and computerization in order to remain competitive. As a result,
there is an increasing international demand for highly skilled
professionals with competence in these areas.
The corresponding increase in the dependence of
these fields on electrical machinery and goods has created a
great need for technicians qualified to develop, install, maintain,
and service the electrical equipment which forms the infrastructural
basis of global technological culture. The demand is especially
great in the construction industry, where the interelationship
beiween material structure, the technology which produces it,
and the technology that it supports and makes possible, is of
fundamental importance; and all the more in developing countries.
The programs offered by the School of Computing
and Technology are structured to respond to these needs, and
provide expert training in a range of technical fields: a four
year-program leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science (B.S.)
in Information Technology; and two-year
technician diploma programs in Computer Programming and Information
Technology, in Construction Technology, and in Electrical and
Electronic Technology.
